Collapsible Parachute Bag Family

ABOUT: What started as a complimentary accessory collection to my senior collection Mountain Climber, slowly turned into a deeper study on form, function and modular systems.

The inspiration for these bags comes from technical mountaineering and vintage military gear.

I wanted to create a set of bags that can function in multiple environments while still being stylish.

Inspiration

Once I had an idea/direction of where I wanted to go with the bags, I began rough concept sketching

Sketching

I decided to implement the adjustable cord channels that I placed in the skirts from mountain climber, into the bags.

Experimenting with the amount of cord channels that I used. In the parachute duffel bag had 2 adjustable channels, the tote bag used 10

After concepting the designs, I created a prototype to see how the idea would work.

The prototypes of the parachute duffel bag and the parachute tote came out well and showed me what I needed to work on before creating the final versions

After creating the prototypes of each bag. I saw the weaknesses in my designs and began to reevaluate some choices.

I altered the pattern for a more efficient construction process

Instead of a sewn adjustable strap I used a matching webbing and adjustable metal sliders

I made a smaller version of the duffel bag and created a cross body bag
